a species of burr. It grows on a stem a little like a wheat head (only larger) and each seed breaks off and is armed with dozens of spines. Very different in appearance to the three corner jack (or cathead in Northern NSW): Don't walk in that paddock without your thongs on. It's full of prickle annies.
