A rectangular shaped tin with a rounded lid (like a hi-top bread loaf) used by miners to carry their meal - crib - in. It was called this as miners traditionally played the game of crib during their 'smokos' or meal breaks: Many miners used their crib tins to take home all sorts of useful items from their work place.
